Plinky asks, ‘What was the worst teacher you ever had and why?’
Easy, Mrs. Wilson 1st grade, the woman was a bitch! If anyone stept out of line, and by stepped out of line I mean, sneezed at the wrong time, the whole class stayed after school. The only time the entire class did not have detention was the day Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. She was kind enough to let us go home and watch that on the news.
If you got new shoes she would make you parade around the room and sing the song, ‘New shoes, new shoes, happy goody new shoes’ Whenever anybody got new shoes we would make sure to scuff them up before we got to class.
My brother had her as a teacher, he is three years older than me. My cousin Erwin who is almost 20 yrs older than me also had Mrs. Wilson as his grade one teacher, and he told me she was in her 60’s when he was in her class, and yes she was just as bad.
Second worst teacher was (Rich I know you know who this one is) Mrs. Vogel. She was a french teacher who couldn’t speak french. I figured out how to pass her class I used a purple pen. The only other way was, (if you are a guy) to wear tight purple pants. In my final year of highschool I also found out she liked jade, (the gem stone) I learned this by listening into her conversations with the girls about shopping. So at one point I mentioned jade was my birthstone, (it really is the Opal) but she believed me and when it came time for the final exam I passed and all I had to do was describe what was going on in a picture she showed me. It was a picture of a boy playing with a ball, My description, “le garcon, avec un ball” I passed. It so happened Richard was next in line. While he was waiting outside the classroom she told him not to bother as she wasn’t going to pass him anyway. Richard speaks more french than I do, (well he went to french immersion for a year so I figure he must, although I’ve never heard him speak french).
Mrs Vogel did once tell me to write lines for talking in class. I had to write “I will not talk in class” 500 times and I had to have the lines on her desk the next morning. I didn’t do it, when I went to her class she told me I had to now write 1000 lines. I explained to her that if I didn’t write 500 lines what would make her think I would write 1000 lines? I didn’t hear anything about it after that.
So Mrs Wilson was the worst because I believe she scarred me for life and to this day I can’t have a pair of shoes for an hour without somehow getting a smudge or something on them. Mrs Vogel second in line cause she was just one of those pathetic teachers who was clearly wasting her time waiting for her retirement.
Our French teacher, Mr Hall, came from England. He was also our Spanish teacher for awhile. No wonder the accents were all screwed up. And still are.
I don’t quite remember Mr. Hall, but I remember the name. I think he taught grade 7 at which point I go Mrs. McDonald who I liked, but years later I sat beside her on a bus and she had clearly lost her mind.

Um….. what about Mr. Halpert? Doesn’t he even get an honorable mention?
Mr. Halpert was only my teacher for a month or so, it wasn’t long after the semester started that they found him curled up in a corner of the hall crying.
Did you tell me about about Mrs. Wilson?
At the time? I’m pretty sure but cannot guarantee it. But this is not the first time you have heard about Mrs. Wilson.
Wow! lol 😀
Vogel, I wonder if she writing still in purple while living in a old folks home. The woman was nuts, she did not like me, and I did not like her. There was many teachers that you and I did not like. What about the math teacher Mr. H.Adler. He thought I was going to do something to his car, I got blamed for talking to you in class, while the back of the class was making all the noise. Mr. Boffin, the pointer in the world history. Another nut. Mr. Neil made me re-write my story of my dream. He thought I copied it from some place. Proved him wrong, even after I re-wrote the story a week later.
There was some teachers I liked, surprising. I did like Ms. Wilson, she did treat me well. When I did an essay, I made her read a lot. I did like Mr. Leemet, even after the argument we had. My dad dealt with that, brian know what I am talking about. I like Ms. Lom, she would drive me home couple of times. Not sure why? Ms. Lom lived on the other side of Decarie. I did like Mr Worden, except when he spoke, he smelt like a cigarette factory. At the end of the day, would I do it again. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude! Your old age is showing. You did not write essay’s for Mrs. Wilson the grade one teacher from hell. You wrote mile long essays for Ms. Wilson, one of our high school English teacher, and she was great. Wilson from grade one was a 200 year old grey haired evil bitty. Ms. Wilson was a hot young redhead everyone had a crush on.

That what I meant, Ms Wilson. I wonder what she looks like today. I am getting old. Your teacher in high school was Ms. Berger.
Yup, I liked Ms Berger, I also had Ms Wilson.
LOL! You guys! One scars boys for life, the other gets a fan following! You’ve had interesting lives!
Okay Jeena here is the deal. Rich and I have been close friends for 40 yrs (we are 44) the first Ms Wilson was a grade one teacher the second was a high school teacher. Quite a few of the highschool teachers had issues with me because my oldest sister and my brother went before me, both were a handful. My first day of history class theteacher went down the roll call came to my name stopped, asked if I was related to M and R, (my brother and sister) and when I said yes, he said, and I will never forget “sit down, shut up stay out of my way and you will pass” He didn’t like my siblings.
What Rich failed to mention about Ms Lom was that Richard at the time was tall, well built, blond haired, with steely blue eyes. (not so much anymore, he is round and ugly he really didn’t age well, but that is between you and I) and Ms Lom had a thing for him. She hated me, actually she hated anyone who was friends with Richard as she was the jealous type.
Brahm on the other hand, who also comments here aged amazingly well, I would have never recognized him in a million years. We have not maintained a friendship over the years, we kind of just drifted apart, and now communicate regularly through these blogs. Brahm writes a great blog, see my blogroll ‘Alfred Lives Here” and out of us all he was the smartest one. Although that may not be a compliment, Rich and I are both a few cards short of a full deck.
I forgot all about Mr Worden LOL He used to hit Harry C. on the head with a book every time he caught me talking in class because harry was within arms reach!
Did you know that for years Mr Boffin wouldn;t let you open the windows because one year the grade 11’s dangled him upside down from a window. I was in Grade 9, I think The Sister might have been in that classroom. I do remember who did it.
Richard, Adler was paranoid because one class that he pissed off took apart and then re-assembled his car in the wood working room. AND a few weeks previous a student in my class threatned to drop a chair out the window and Ms Bohbat (sp) said I don;t care so he did, right through the roof of her car!
And finally yes mom we all told you about Mrs Wilson, Me Ronna Brian Erwin and Joel!
… um you do know Mrs Lom and Mr Leemet were an Item … or was that Mrs Lamb always got them confused…. the typing teacher.
… cards short of a deck … sigh all those hockey cards.
